How to View Change History for Families and Staff

Instant Church Directory now includes a change history view for Families and Staff for Account Owners to review. This history helps you see when records were added, updated, deleted, or restored, along with who made the change.

Important: History begins with changes made on or after May 7, 2026 at 12:00 PM Eastern. Changes made before that time will not appear in history.

What this feature includes

History is currently available for:

  • Families
  • Staff

For each record, the history view can help you see:

  • when the record was added
  • when it was last modified
  • whether it was deleted
  • who made the change
  • what type of action occurred, such as add, update, delete, or restore
  • what values changed, with before-and-after comparisons when available

View all recorded activity

Use the Change History page to see a log of all recorded activity in one place.

This is helpful when you want to review recent changes across multiple records, rather than looking at one Family or Staff record at a time.

View Family history

  1. Go to Families.
  2. Find the family you want to review.
  3. Click History on that family’s card.

The history opens in a panel on the right side of the screen.

In Family history, you may also see related people connected to that family, including whether each person is currently active or deleted.

View Staff history

  1. Go to Staff.
  2. Find the staff record you want to review.
  3. Click History.

The history opens in a panel so you can review recent changes without leaving the page.

View deleted records for 7 days

Deleted Families and Staff remain available in the Deleted view for 7 days, giving you time to review and restore them if needed.

If you are trying to confirm whether a Family or Staff record was recently removed, check both:

  • the History view for that record
  • the Deleted view in the corresponding section

What history does not include yet

At this time, the history view does not include:

  • Image and photo changes
  • Group changes

Tips for using history

  • Use History when you want to confirm who changed a Family or Staff record.
  • Expand a history entry to review before-and-after values for updated fields.
  • If a record was recently deleted, check the Deleted view within 7 days if you need to restore it.
  • If you are not seeing Change History, you are likely logged in as an Editor. Only Account Owners can view the History.
