Troubleshooting Call & Message Links in the App

If you're having trouble using the call or message links in our app, here are a few things that might be causing the issue and how to fix them.

1. Missing Phone or Messaging App

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: Your device may not have a default phone or messaging app set up, or it may be restricted.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • iPhone (iOS): Ensure the Phone and Messages apps are installed and enabled.
  • Android: Check that the Phone and Messages apps are not disabled in your settings.

2. App Permissions Not Granted

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: The app needs permission to make calls or send messages.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • iPhone (iOS):
    1. Open Settings > Scroll down to find our app.
    2. Tap it and ensure Phone and Messages permissions are enabled.
  • Android:
    1. Go to Settings > Apps > Find our app.
    2. Tap Permissions and ensure Phone and SMS permissions are granted.

3. Default Calling or Messaging App Not Set

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: If you have multiple calling or messaging apps installed, the system may not know which one to use.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • iPhone (iOS): The default app is set automatically, but check that FaceTime or a VoIP app isn't interfering.
  • Android:
    1. Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
    2. Ensure Phone and Messages are correctly set.

4. Airplane Mode or No Cellular Signal

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: Your device is in Airplane Mode, has no cell signal, or is using Wi-Fi only.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • Check if Airplane Mode is on (disable if needed).
  • Ensure you have cellular service.
  • If using Wi-Fi calling, make sure it is enabled in Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling.

5. Carrier Restrictions or No Calling Plan

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: Your carrier may block calls/messages, or you may not have an active plan.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • Try making a call or sending a text manually from your Phone or Messages app.
  • If it doesn't work, contact your carrier to check for restrictions or plan issues.

6. Outdated App Version

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: The app may have a bug in an old version.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • iPhone (iOS): Go to the App Store, search for our app, and tap Update if available.
  • Android: Open the Google Play Store, find our app, and tap Update.

7. System Glitch (Restart Needed)

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: Sometimes, a temporary system issue prevents links from working.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • Restart your phone and try again.
  • Force close and reopen the app.

8. Software Updates Needed

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: Your phoneโ€™s operating system may have a bug affecting calling/messaging.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • iPhone (iOS): Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates.
  • Android: Open Settings > System > Software Update and check for updates.

9. Trying to Text a Landline

๐Ÿ”น Possible Cause: Some phone numbers (especially business or office numbers) may be landlines that cannot receive text messages.

๐Ÿ”น How to Fix:

  • Try calling the number instead of texting.
  • If it's a business number, check if they offer an alternative mobile number for messaging.
  • Some landlines support text-to-voice services (your message is read aloud), but this depends on the carrier.
